Our students spent the first month learning about design thinking, a creative problem-solving method that takes them from inspiration to ideation to implementation of innovative strategies.
This is an iterative process that teaches people to begin with keen observations, before jumping into the strategy building phase. The process ends with evaluation where folks are encouraged to seek out feedback, before restarting the process, all the while, constantly improving the strategy.
Students used the design thinking cycle to approach SIP's first design challenge, focused on Storage at Sequoyah. They will also use this design thinking cycle of action to approach all future challenges, including that of the LA River.
